3 tips to losing fat while drinking alcohol

Alcohol can definitely make losing fat more difficult but that doesn’t always have to be the case. If your goal is to live a healthy lifestyle, you want it to be sustainable.

In other words

.

.

you don’t have to give up having a couple of drinks every now and then.

Moderation is key when it comes to drinking alcohol and fat loss!

One thing to note is that your body considers alcohol a toxin. When you drink alcohol, your body stops other important functions in order to metabolize it as quickly as possible.

This means when you drink alcohol, getting rid of the alcohol is the body’s number one priority instead of working towards getting rid of fat.

If you drink on a regular basis, you are regularly halting your fat loss efforts, and that could have a major impact on your progress.

Here are 3 tips to keeping in line with your fat loss goals while sippin on a cocktail or two:

1. Choose low calorie drinks such as:

- Vodka with soda

- A glass of wine

- Light beer

These drinks tend to have lower calories and less sugar than other cocktails.

2. Supplement with water

If you're drinking more than one or two drinks per day, alternating your cocktails with water is a good idea..even if you aren't trying to lose fat. This trick slows down your drinking and keeps you hydrated (and avoid a hangover, yes please!).

3. Eat nutrient-dense foods:

Poor nutrition will quickly halt your fat loss and negatively impact how you feel. Make sure you’re eating plenty of nutrient-dense whole foods so you can give your body what it needs.

Also, alcohol lowers your inhibitions which in turn leads you to making poor choices such as eating pizza or french fries. Eat a meal with fiber and protein before drinking to help avoid this.

In the grand scheme of things, one night out of drinking will not hinder your fat loss goals. Take time to enjoy a night out with your friends/family and get back to working towards your goals the next day.
